We are thrilled to organize the first ever coastal rowing race in Finland. The Baltic Sea just outside of Helsinki is spectacularly beautiful, but safe to row also in the autumn since it is protected from the biggest waves by a large number of islands.
Would you like to catch some waves in Helsinki?
The 1st ever Coastal Rowing Championship Race in Finland takes place on Saturday September 29th 2018 in Helsinki. Welcome to row on the Baltic Sea!
- Distance: 1.5km with a flying start
- Categories: M1X, W1X, 2X
- Fee 25 € includes boat rental and sauna
- Prices for the winners
- Register by September 19th to ensure your seat
- Venue: HKK, Rajasaarenpenger 8, Helsinki
- Register before 19th of September (see below)
Reserve the whole day starting from 10am and ending with after-row sauna & swimming in the evening. The course is short but sweet with a circular route around the Koirasaari island and with buoys for the crews to navigate. The race is spectator friendly since the route goes under a bridge and the boats are never far from the coastline of the island. So bring your cameras and cheers :-)
We have a limited number of boats so the changeover between race starts needs to be done swiftly by the pier.
Some notable rowers have already signed up for the race, such as fireman Jari Saario, known for his solo wooden boat open ocean rowing to Estonia and back (170km within one day). Jari is also the Finnish record holder on the Concept2 indoor rowing 500m distance.
Ocean rowing is my passion. - Jari Saario
We are very happy to host all coastal rowers in this debut race: first timers and experienced rowers alike are welcome.
Organizers: Quiske and Helsingin Kanoottiklubi HKK
